Sweet Fran

Our sweet little chicken Fran passed away today.  She was so friendly, always came when you called her, loved  being held, loved her wings tickled, put up with wearing outfits (remember the knitted cape, Thanksgiving pilgrim..), really loved to eat, an excellent worm-catcher, a good girl all around.   We will really miss her.

Turtle Creek Turtles

The turtles around our Loop Road are coming out to enjoy the sunshine. It nice to see when a car pulls over giving a little turtle time to cross safely. This guy pictured below was starting his climb up our hill to the cabin. (He looks huge, but it was a angle I took the photo).

A few days ago Dan spotted a snapping turtle laying eggs near one of the creeks.  It should be quite awhile before they hatch.  In the meantime I put down a little heart rock to be sure we know to be careful around the area….babies sleeping.

Wildflowers & Weeds
