Whistler House Museum of Art's "Art Quilts" Exhibit will run from August 10 thru September 3 in Lowell, MA. One of my pieces "Robinson Farm Girl" will be featured.

This farm gal is a buff orpington hen who has the pleasure of living in a historic 1915 five story dairy barn. The girls come and go through an open side window. Robinson Farm located in Woodstock, Vermont and is part of the Farmhouse Inn Bed and Breakfast. Now you can see who really provides the breakfast.

A dozen life size sheep with colorful yarn balls placed all over directed festival guests to our Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival. The city has a law against “temporary” signs along the roads leading into the Smoky Mountains……sheep aren’t signs they are just sheep.

We had a great turnout – with classes, sheep herding, sheep shearing, knitting, spinning, weaving and a wonderful array of vendors from all across the country! Sandy from Cozy Rabbit Farm of New Jersey, stayed with me, along with her adorable angora rabbits. She spins their fur into luxurious yarns (the chickens & cats did not get to visit with them before you ask) Another committee member had Mercedes from Kitchen Sink Dyeworks as a guest. She dyes and paints incredible yarns; some even with shimmering sterling silver threads blended in. The Festival is always around the third weekend in March, a great time to visit the Smoky Mountains or look for sheep!

Art Events

Just returned from the 17th annual SAFF Festival outside of Asheville, NC with 10 girls from our knitting group here plus a few more friends from out of state. We started celebrating Thursday when Amy arrived. Stephanie rented us a house for three days a few mins from downtown - we returned home with car loads of yarn, roving, more projects than we can ever complete but most of all great memories.

Art Events

The 11th annual Foothills Fall Festival of Music and Art sponsored by the City of Maryville was fantastic this year – the weather could not have been more perfect for this event that takes place in the streets of downtown, transforming into Artway, where juried craftsman feature their creations, demonstrators share their crafts (featured below), music and street performers entertain young and old. Our park and amphitheater is filled with music day and night. As a committee member for the Festival we are so pleased with this years’ event! (we meet next week to start working on making next years' even better…).
